Crypto markets recorded $304.2 million in forced liquidations during the 24 hours through 8:06 p.m. ET Oct. 23, with long positions accounting for 73% of the total.

The period covered 86,328 orders across Binance, OKX and Bybit. Liquidation means a trading position is forcibly closed. Long positions totaled $220.7 million, while short positions totaled $83.6 million. The components differ from the overall figure by $100,000 because of rounding.

Bitcoin (BTC) had $60.5 million in liquidations, including $50.7 million in longs and $9.9 million in shorts. Ether (ETH) followed with $43.3 million, split between $34.4 million in longs and $8.9 million in shorts.

XAG recorded $21.4 million, including $20.8 million in longs and $564,214 in shorts. Irys (IRYS) totaled $20.6 million, with $3.4 million in longs and $17.1 million in shorts. Zcash (ZEC) had $12.4 million, while XAU recorded $11.5 million. Long liquidations exceeded short liquidations for BTC, ETH, XAG, ZEC and XAU. IRYS was the exception among the six: its short total topped its long total and the short total for each of the other five.

Binance recorded $237.6 million in liquidations. OKX had $38.4 million and Bybit recorded $28.2 million. The largest single liquidation was a $4.8 million ETH long position on Binance at 6:47 p.m. ET Oct. 23.
