> The Aug. 31 estimate includes 92,272 Bitcoin millionaires. Henley says its changed methodology prevents a direct comparison with its 2025 count.

Henley & Partners estimated that 135,694 people held at least $1 million in cryptocurrency on Aug. 31, using a revised method that prevents a direct comparison with its 2025 count. The firm released its Crypto Wealth Report 2026 on Sept. 8.

The estimate includes 92,272 people with at least $1 million in Bitcoin (BTC) alone. Henley also estimated that 290 people held at least $100 million in crypto and 23 held at least $1 billion. These are modeled estimates, not a list of identified investors.

Henley’s Bitcoin estimate starts with 123,222 blockchain addresses holding at least $1 million in BTC. The calculation adjusts for exchange and fund wallets, lost coins and people controlling multiple addresses. It also adds an estimated 31,000 investors who hold Bitcoin only through exchange-traded funds.

Those adjustments produce a Bitcoin millionaire range of 74,000 to 114,000. Blockchain addresses cannot establish how many individual people own an asset: one person may control multiple addresses, while an exchange or fund wallet may hold assets for many customers. A [TokenPost explainer on why Bitcoin wallet counts do not identify individual owners](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/investing/27369>) covers that limitation.

The all-crypto estimate builds on the Bitcoin figure. Henley’s methodology puts Bitcoin at 68% of crypto market value when stablecoins are excluded from the Aug. 31 valuation. The model assumes people at the $1 million threshold held Bitcoin in roughly that proportion.

Henley’s 2025 report counted 241,700 crypto millionaires as of June 30, 2025. Because the firm changed its methodology for the 2026 estimate, the two totals do not show how the number of crypto millionaires changed year over year.
