Data refreshes hourly; figures reflect the aggregation time stated in the article. [Editor's note]

As of 5:20 p.m. KST on Oct. 27 (08:20 UTC), about 9% of the position notional held by the top traders by 7-day performance on Hyperliquid, Lighter, dYdX and Pacifica combined is long. Longs total about $324 million and shorts about $3.11 billion, with the top 100 on each exchange counted separately and then summed by asset.

Compared with this morning's edition (aggregated at 8:07 a.m. KST), the same group's long notional fell 18% from about $396 million to $324 million, while shorts grew 2.6% from about $3.03 billion to $3.11 billion. The long share, which had risen from 7% to 12% in the morning edition, is back at 9% about nine hours later. Over the same stretch Bitcoin (BTC) moved from $80,107 to $79,712, down 0.5%, and Ethereum (ETH) from $2,322 to $2,309, down 0.6%.

The top group by 24-hour performance moved the other way. It holds about $341 million long and $2.39 billion short, a short share of about 88%, down from 90% in the morning edition ($278 million long, $2.53 billion short) as longs grew by $63 million and shorts shrank by $141 million. It is the only one of the three groups that shifted toward long, and its positions show an unrealized gain of about $50 million.

The 30-day group holds about $341 million long and $3.40 billion short, a short share of about 91%, almost unchanged from 90% in the morning edition ($366 million long, $3.37 billion short). The three groups' short shares sit within a band of 88% to 91%.

BTC is net short in all three windows. The 24-hour group holds 69 long and 139 short accounts, about $76 million long and $819 million short, a short share of 92%. The 7-day group is 68 long and 180 short (91% short), with 18 more short accounts than the 75 long and 162 short of the morning edition, and the 30-day group is 77 long and 170 short (93% short).

ETH is more lopsided by notional: about $696 million short in the 24-hour group (98% short), $873 million in the 7-day group (97%) and $916 million in the 30-day group (87%). By headcount, though, the 24-hour group's ETH long accounts rose from 58 this morning to 70 while short accounts fell from 133 to 119. ETH positions carry an unrealized gain of about $17 million to $22 million in each window, again the largest gain of any asset.

By asset, the biggest move came in [Hyperliquid (HYPE)](<https://satoshinote.io/traders/coins/hype?window=week&utm_source=tokenpost_com&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=coin_positions_daily_en_20261027_18>) in the 7-day group. HYPE went from 58 long and 82 short accounts with a 15% long share by notional in the morning edition to 49 long and 91 short, about $14 million long and $219 million short, a 6% long share. That is the same 6% as the Oct. 26 evening edition, so the morning's rise to 15% lasted less than a day. The drop in HYPE long notional from about $36 million to $14 million accounts for close to a third of the 7-day group's total long decrease. HYPE positions carry the largest unrealized loss in every window, about $30 million in the 7-day group and $48 million in the 30-day group, and HYPE is at $77.70, up 0.8% over 24 hours.

In the 24-hour group, by contrast, HYPE holds about $79 million long and $123 million short, a 39% long share, up from 31% in the morning and the highest of the top 20 assets by notional. NEAR Protocol (NEAR) in the 24-hour group has 20 long and 67 short accounts, but its long notional rose from about $1 million this morning to $26 million, taking its long share from 2% to 37%. With one more long account and 25 times the long notional, the change points to a single large long position entering the ranking. Zcash (ZEC) in the 24-hour group is split 45 long and 44 short by headcount, and its long notional rose from about $25 million to $54 million, a 25% long share.

A 7-day long share that moved from 12% to 9% between morning and evening is hard to read as a call on market direction. The group is re-selected every hour on 7-day performance, so when accounts holding longs in assets that fell drop out of the ranking, long notional shrinks by that much. The 24-hour group turns over faster still because it is selected on one day's performance, and a change like NEAR's long notional growing 25-fold can come from one or two accounts.

The figures also sum only the top-100 positions on four exchanges, so a few large positions can sway the notional split, and holdings on other exchanges or in spot are not counted, leaving any hedging unknown. No top-20 asset leans long by notional in any window; by headcount only ZEC, Monero (XMR) and BNB in the 24-hour group and XMR in the 7-day group have more long accounts than short. Current positions describe the present, not where the market goes next.
