> Rangers shares fell nearly 7% in their first session as Knicks shares rose nearly 6%. Analyst Curry Baker estimated possible NBA expansion could add $450 million to $700 million in value for the Knicks.

Guggenheim Securities initiated coverage of MSG Rangers Corp. and MSG Knickerbockers Corp. with buy ratings and price targets that imply nearly 57% and 46% upside from Tuesday’s closes.

The $278 target for MSG Rangers compares with its $177.61 close. The $445 target for MSG Knickerbockers compares with its $305.42 close. In the companies’ first session of separate trading, Rangers shares fell nearly 7%, while Knickerbockers shares gained nearly 6%.

The separation took effect late Monday, Oct. 26, and both companies began regular trading on the New York Stock Exchange Tuesday, Oct. 27, completing the [spin-off that separated the Knicks and Rangers businesses](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/business/42111>).

Analyst Curry Baker cited potential NBA expansion in Las Vegas and Seattle as a possible source of value for MSG Knickerbockers. He estimated the expansion could be worth $450 million to $700 million for the Knicks, or about $13 to $20 per share, and also pointed to possible NBA expansion in Europe.

For MSG Rangers, Baker said the separation gives the company more flexibility to consider strategic options, including an outright sale or the sale of a minority stake. He also cited a Section 162(m) tax code change beginning in fiscal year 2028 as a reason the company could explore strategic action.
