> The later sample covered 30 matched U.S. market dates through Oct. 26. Separately, China’s STAR 50 fell 39.8% from July 9 to Oct. 26.

Bitcoin’s daily log return correlation with the Nasdaq-100 rose to 0.63 in a 30-date sample ending Oct. 26, indicating closer co-movement with U.S. stocks but not a shared cause.

The calculation uses daily log returns across 30 matched U.S. market dates ending Oct. 26. A separate 30-date sample ending July 9 produced a 0.36 correlation. The later reading points to closer alignment in the two daily return series, but the short windows do not establish what caused the change.

Correlation measures how consistently two series move in relation to each other; it does not say whether either asset gained or lost over a longer period. A positive reading can describe returns moving upward together or downward together.

Separately, China’s technology-focused STAR 50 Index fell 39.8% from July 9 through Oct. 26. Its close moved from 2,185.83 on July 9 to 1,315.50 on Oct. 26 over 71 subsequent Chinese trading sessions. The Shanghai Stock Exchange selects 50 securities from its Science and Technology Innovation Board based on market capitalization and liquidity, so the index represents a slice of listed Chinese technology companies, not the entire sector. The decline was covered in [earlier reporting on the STAR 50 selloff](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/investing/42774>).

The selloff was estimated to have erased about $480 billion in market value. That is a separate measure from the index’s percentage decline, and the estimate’s date range was not specified. It should not be treated as a calculation of value lost over the same July 9-Oct. 26 window.

Cross-market stress can spread when tighter financing or volatility triggers margin calls, forcing investors to reduce positions. Those sales can synchronize declines across different assets if funds need to raise cash. But the Bitcoin-Nasdaq correlation does not measure Bitcoin’s relationship with the STAR 50 or show that pressure traveled from Chinese stocks into crypto.

The later correlation sample covers only 30 matched U.S. market dates through Oct. 26. It shows closer Bitcoin-Nasdaq co-movement than the earlier 30-date reading, without establishing a shared driver or a connection to the Chinese selloff.
