> ZachXBT said funds from the Binance and Bitget hacks moved through THORChain and converged at one Ethereum address.

THORChain’s RUNE rose more than 13% Friday after Binance confirmed a $6.3 billion hack, refocusing attention on the protocol’s role in moving funds from exchange breaches.

ZachXBT, an on-chain investigator, said funds from the Binance and September Bitget hacks moved through THORChain before being combined at the same Ethereum address. The observation links the latest incident to earlier scrutiny of the protocol’s handling of stolen assets.

THORChain was also used to move funds from the $1.4 billion Bybit hack in February 2025 and the $388 million Bitget hack. After Bitget’s exploit, Bitget CEO Gracy Chen urged THORChain to block addresses linked to the attacker.

“Decentralization is a design principle, not a shield for facilitating known stolen funds,” Chen said. THORChain rejected the request, saying it has no mechanism to block individual swaps. Node operators can pause trading across an entire blockchain or network.

THORChain lets users swap assets across blockchains.
