> Bitcoin options open interest fell 29.60% to $27.37 billion. Calls held 56.65% of outstanding positions, while puts generated 58.61% of daily volume, led by Deribit’s November 13 $74,000 put.

Bitcoin options open interest fell 29.60% from the previous day to $27.37 billion, with calls accounting for 56.65% of outstanding positions. Puts represented 58.61% of daily trading volume, highlighting a split between accumulated positions and recent activity.

Calls retained the larger share of Bitcoin options open interest, while puts dominated trading. That mix is consistent with demand for downside protection alongside positions tied to higher prices, although option type alone does not establish traders’ intentions.

As of October 30, 2026, at 12:01 UTC, total Bitcoin options open interest stood at $27.37 billion, down from $38.88 billion the previous day. Trading volume totaled $7.47 billion.

Calls accounted for 56.65% of open interest and puts for 43.35%. Across 24-hour trading volume, calls represented 41.39% and puts 58.61%.

The outstanding position mix remained tilted toward calls despite the decline in total open interest. The heavier put share of daily volume suggested more immediate demand for downside exposure or hedging.

The contracts with the most open interest, in descending order, were Deribit’s $80,000 call expiring December 25, 2026; $60,000 put expiring December 25, 2026; and $100,000 call expiring December 25, 2026.

The leading contracts by 24-hour volume were Deribit’s $74,000 put expiring November 13, 2026; $75,000 put expiring November 1, 2026; and $64,000 put expiring November 27, 2026.

[Editor’s note] Options can be used to take leveraged exposure to an underlying asset or hedge existing positions. Calls give holders the right to buy at a specified price, while puts give holders the right to sell, subject to the contract’s terms. Open interest measures outstanding contracts and indicates the accumulated size of positions.

Open interest and trading volume describe different aspects of market activity: the positions still outstanding and the contracts traded over a period. Comparing their call and put shares can help distinguish accumulated exposure from recent activity, but a larger call share does not by itself establish a bullish outlook, nor does heavier put volume necessarily indicate outright bearish bets.
