The Korean won strengthened by 2.5 won to close at 1,334.3 per dollar, near the year's strongest level of 1,323.1. The dollar's closing rate was 14.2% below its annual high of 1,555.8 won.

Bank of Korea published rates showed the dollar falling to 1,334.3 won from the previous close of 1,336.8.

On October 30, 2026, USD/KRW opened at 1,338.5, with the won initially weaker by 1.7 won against the previous close. The won then strengthened by 4.2 won from the opening level, recording its second consecutive session of gains.

The closing rate stood about 5% of the way up the year's range from the low of 1,323.1 won on October 26 to the high of 1,555.8 on July 2. It was also 89.5 won below the 1,423.8 recorded on August 6.

The year-on-year comparison also shows the won's appreciation. Converting 1,000,000 won into dollars at the October 30, 2025 rate of 1,426.5 would have yielded about $701.02. Converting that amount back at the latest closing rate would return about 935,366 won, a decline of 64,634 won, or 6.5%, in won terms.

The same day's exchange rates were 200.53 won per Chinese yuan and approximately 847 won per 100 Japanese yen.
