> The 24-hour range dipped below $77,000. Binance set aside more than $6.34 billion to cover the incident’s estimated impact.

Bitcoin (BTC) traded at $77,152.39 on Binance at 2:24 a.m. ET Saturday, down 1.67% over 24 hours as the exchange worked toward phased withdrawals after a security incident with an estimated $6.3 billion impact.

BTC’s 24-hour range was $76,189.88 to $78,647.39, putting the snapshot above $77,000 even though the period’s low fell below that threshold. The reading does not establish that Bitcoin stayed above $77,000 throughout the period.

Binance’s Oct. 30 update said hot wallets were compromised at about 4:05 p.m. ET Oct. 29. The company set aside more than $6.34 billion to cover the estimated impact, including $5 billion in affected tokens, and said it was buying the remaining assets through market and over-the-counter channels.

Binance separately put on-chain frozen assets at about $3 billion as of its 3:33 p.m. ET Oct. 30 update. That amount is distinct from the company funds set aside for the response; the figures do not establish a final net loss.

The exchange targeted beginning to restore withdrawals within about 34 hours of its Oct. 30 update, subject to security checks and in phases.
