> Ethereum options open interest fell 0.39% to $5.28 billion. Calls held 61.58% of outstanding positions and 51.74% of daily volume, led by OKX's $2,350 call expiring November 3.

Ethereum options open interest stood at $5.28 billion, down 0.39% from the previous day, with calls accounting for 61.58%. Calls also led daily trading volume, taking a 51.74% share.

Call options held a larger share of outstanding Ethereum positions and a narrower lead in daily turnover. The difference points to a stronger call bias in accumulated positions than in short-term trading activity.

As of November 2, Ethereum options open interest totaled $5.28 billion, compared with $5.30 billion the previous day. Daily options trading volume was $893.09 million.

Calls represented 61.58% of open interest and puts 38.42%. By daily trading volume, calls accounted for 51.74% and puts 48.26%.

The open-interest split showed more outstanding exposure in calls, which can be used to position for gains. Daily trading was more evenly divided, with puts accounting for nearly half of turnover, indicating that downside positioning and hedging remained part of market activity.

The contracts with the highest open interest, in descending order, were Deribit's $3,200 call expiring December 25, 2026; its $2,200 call expiring December 25, 2026; and its $2,000 put expiring November 13, 2026.

The leading contracts by daily trading volume were OKX's $2,350 call expiring November 3, 2026; Bybit's $1,950 put expiring November 3, 2026; and Bybit's $2,390 call expiring November 3, 2026.

[Editor's note] Options are derivatives used to take leveraged exposure to an underlying asset's price movements or hedge existing positions. Calls give holders the right to buy at a predetermined price, while puts give holders the right to sell, subject to the contract's terms. Open interest measures outstanding contracts and indicates the accumulated size of positions.

Call and put shares, together with changes in open interest and trading volume, help distinguish outstanding positioning from daily activity. These measures alone do not establish market direction: calls and puts can form parts of hedges or multi-contract strategies as well as directional trades.
