> A Nov. 3 snapshot counted 2.63 million daily active addresses on Solana and 495,808 on Ethereum. Ethereum also had more monthly active developers, with data through Oct. 5.

Solana (SOL) showed more 24-hour address and transaction activity than Ethereum in a Nov. 3 snapshot, while Ethereum's chain-level decentralized finance (DeFi) value locked was about eight times higher.

The 24-hour counts were 2.63 million active addresses and 94.65 million transactions for Solana, compared with 495,808 addresses and 1.88 million transactions for Ethereum. These figures count addresses and transactions; they do not establish how many individual people used either network or the value of each transaction.

On the chain-level measure of DeFi total value locked (TVL), Ethereum had $43.35 billion and Solana had $5.362 billion in figures dated Nov. 3. Ethereum's Layer 2 rollups are counted separately, so the figure does not represent its full rollup ecosystem.

The monthly active developer measure, with a displayed data range through Oct. 5, counted 8,779 developers for Ethereum and 2,678 for Solana. The measure tracks developer activity, not user adoption.

Fees depend on different inputs on each network. Solana's base fee is 5,000 lamports per signature, equivalent to 0.000005 SOL, with an optional priority fee. The dollar amount varies with SOL's price, and a priority fee can raise the total. Ethereum's transaction fee depends on gas used, the base fee and any priority fee. The 21,000 gas units used as an example for an Ether (ETH) transfer describe gas consumption, not a current fee quote.

Solana recorded 1,377 transactions per second at 11:05:27 p.m. ET Sunday, Nov. 1 (4:05:27 a.m. UTC Nov. 2). A separate reading showed 19.42 past-day UOPS for Ethereum and 822.54 for rollups, without a matching observation time. UOPS and TPS measure throughput differently, so the figures do not establish a direct speed ranking.

The networks also process activity differently. Solana handles nonconflicting transactions in parallel, while Ethereum rollups process transactions on separate networks and post data back to Ethereum. A throughput comparison therefore depends on which networks and measures it includes.
