> AI and semiconductor shares led the slide. Crypto-linked stocks also declined, while prediction-market pricing showed less confidence in Bitcoin topping $68,000 imminently.

The Nasdaq 100 dropped 6.4% on Thursday, wiping out $2.3 trillion in market value and extending a technology-led selloff that also hit stocks tied to the cryptocurrency sector. The index had already fallen more than 10% from its previous record high, putting it in correction territory. Artificial intelligence and semiconductor shares were at the center of the latest decline, while related indexes also posted sharp losses.

Crypto-related companies’ shares also fell substantially amid the technology selloff. The retreat is a risk-off signal for crypto traders, and prediction-market pricing reflected reduced confidence in Bitcoin’s near-term growth. That pricing also lowered the implied likelihood of Bitcoin moving above $68,000 imminently.

Market observers are watching for signs of stabilization in technology shares, as continued declines could weigh on related markets, including cryptocurrencies. The weakness in crypto-linked companies shows that the equity selloff reached businesses tied to digital assets, while AI and semiconductor shares remained its main pressure points.
