> James Butterfill said fading election uncertainty may leave room for a rebound, while slower crypto reform poses a greater risk.

Bitcoin has absorbed expectations of a large Democratic victory in the Nov. 3 U.S. midterm elections, CoinShares research chief James Butterfill said, as fading uncertainty may leave room for a rebound.

Butterfill said the anticipated result would not necessarily trigger another sell-off. He identified slower progress on crypto reform as the greater risk to the industry. The Clarity Act faces a more difficult path, he said, while investigations involving Trump-related businesses could consume political capital and create unsettling headlines for crypto.

U.S. crypto stocks may be more sensitive than Bitcoin, particularly exchanges, token issuers and firms that rely on new regulatory approvals. Compliant operators could benefit if competitors face tighter scrutiny, Butterfill said.

For Bitcoin, real yields, dollar liquidity and exchange-traded product flows remain more important than election developments, he said.
