> Bitcoin at $75,930 left 62 of 90 listed companies with disclosed purchase costs facing unrealized losses. Strategy’s holdings remained 0.6% above cost.

With Bitcoin trading at $75,930, 62 of the 90 listed companies that disclosed their average purchase costs were holding it at an unrealized loss. Strategy, the largest holder, was just 0.6% above its average cost.

More than half of digital asset treasury (DAT) companies with disclosed purchase costs held Bitcoin worth less than they paid for it. Their unrealized returns varied widely depending on when they bought.

The November 6 snapshot covered 174 listed companies holding a combined 1,300,893 Bitcoin. The 90 companies with disclosed average costs accounted for 82.6% of those holdings, and 62 were below cost at the prevailing price of $75,930. By holdings, however, only 12.2% were in loss territory, because Strategy’s average purchase cost remained below the market price.

Strategy held 849,327 Bitcoin at an average cost of $75,451, giving it an unrealized gain of 0.6%. A further decline of about 0.6% would bring Bitcoin below that cost. Companies without disclosed purchase costs, including Twenty One Capital with 43,514 Bitcoin and MARA Holdings with 35,577, were excluded from the return calculations.

Among companies holding at least 1,000 Bitcoin, 13 were below their average costs, including Metaplanet at a loss of 14.3%, Strive at 13.5% and Trump Media & Technology Group Corp. at 35.9%. Trump Media had the largest percentage loss in that group, with Bitcoin trading 35.9% below its average purchase price of $118,529. Next Technology Holding, by contrast, had an unrealized gain of 141.9% against an average cost of $31,386.

Five South Korean listed companies were included, led by Bitmax with 551 Bitcoin. Bitplanet, Bitmax and Wemade were below cost by 28.0%, 26.3% and 19.2%, respectively, while Neowiz Holdings had an unrealized gain of 31.7%. Parataxis Korea had not disclosed its purchase cost.

[Editor’s note] Digital asset treasury (DAT) companies are listed companies that buy and hold digital assets such as Bitcoin as treasury assets. This column covers Bitcoin holders. Unrealized returns compare the current Bitcoin price with average purchase costs and exclude fees, taxes and borrowing costs.
