> The unnamed executive called the liquidations necessary and part of a market-bottoming process, while warning that more downside pressure remained.

An unnamed financial services company CEO told economic journalist Charles Gasparino that the number of hedge funds being liquidated has reached its highest level since 2009, as a technology-stock selloff fueled speculation that one or more funds were under strain.

Gasparino shared the CEO’s assessment in an X post Nov. 6. The CEO called the liquidations necessary and described them as part of a market-bottoming process, while saying further downside pressure remained.

The claim adds a count-based measure to existing market discussion of [hedge-fund liquidations as a driver of U.S. stock selling](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/investing/49681>). It concerns the number of funds being liquidated, not the dollar value of trading losses.
