# Former Hack VC Partner Hsin-Ju’s Death Ruled a Suicide as Probe Continues

The death of former Hack VC partner and platform head Hsin-Ju has been ruled a suicide, while the California Highway Patrol continues investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.

San Bernardino County coroner autopsy records list the cause classification. Hsin-Ju, 37, was found dead Aug. 24 near a ramp off Interstate 15 in California’s Mojave Desert.

The finding came after Hsin-Ju announced Aug. 23 that she had rejected a settlement proposal from Hack VC and planned to release evidence related to her work there on Aug. 26.

Before her death, Hsin-Ju alleged that she had been required to continue working during a medical emergency and was warned she could be blacklisted if she resigned before completing an event. She also alleged problems with her health insurance after leaving the firm and pressure during legal discussions.

Hack VC said it had a substantially different understanding of the situation and declined to discuss details publicly out of respect for Hsin-Ju’s privacy.

The highway patrol investigation remains ongoing.
