Polygon founder Sandeep apologized after some people interpreted a post from the network’s official account as mocking Abstract’s decision to shut down its Ethereum layer-2 network.

Sandeep said the post did not have the intended effect and that Polygon’s marketing team was engaging in self-deprecating promotion. He said the message was not intended to mock Abstract’s shutdown and maintained that Polygon’s fundamentals continue to grow.

He also said he was confused when he first saw the post and stressed that he respects Abstract founder Luca Netz and his team. Polygon previously ended its zkEVM project, giving Sandeep a personal understanding of the difficulty involved.

Sandeep said he would not make fun of the situation and wished Netz and the Pudgy Penguins team well.
