Elon Musk said artificial intelligence and robots are the only way to address U.S. debt, arguing that the country cannot solve the problem through spending restraint alone.

Musk said his time leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) showed that the federal deficit could not be resolved from inside government. He said the president, House, Senate and judiciary lacked the willingness to cut spending.

Musk also said he stayed away from his companies too long during his White House role. He said he should have kept the assignment to one or two months, rather than the four months he formally spent in the White House, and should have returned sooner to focus on AI.
