> Schmidt’s estimated 1% holding would be worth about $15 billion on paper at that valuation. Anthropic has not set an offering price.

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt’s estimated 1% stake in Anthropic could be worth about $15 billion on paper at an IPO valuation some investors have discussed, making the offering price central to its value.

The valuation under discussion is around $1.5 trillion, below earlier expectations of roughly $2 trillion. At those two hypothetical valuations, an estimated 1% holding would be worth about $15 billion or $20 billion, respectively. Neither figure represents proceeds Schmidt would receive from selling shares.

Anthropic’s last announced private valuation provides a lower reference point. The company raised $65 billion in May at a $965 billion post-money valuation, which would put the paper value of a 1% stake near $10 billion. The estimate depends on the size of Schmidt’s holding when an offering takes place.

Schmidt participated in Anthropic’s 2021 Series A, a $124 million financing round. His [holding is estimated at about 1%](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/people/35343>), but Anthropic has not disclosed his individual investment amount or share count. Those missing details also prevent a calculation of his personal investment return.

The valuation discussions follow an Oct. 14 meeting with prospective investors. Anthropic presented third-quarter revenue of $16.8 billion, up 45% from the preceding quarter, and said it was profitable on an adjusted basis. The $1.5 trillion figure remains a subject of investor discussion, not an offering price set by the company.

Anthropic confidentially submitted draft IPO paperwork on June 1. That step opened a path toward a public offering, but it did not establish how many shares the company would offer or what buyers would pay. The final terms would determine the value implied for Schmidt’s stake at a debut.

Formal marketing could begin the week of Nov. 9, and trading is possible before Nov. 26. Anthropic has not announced a firm listing date, share count or offer price.
