> He cited wafer output and power availability as supply constraints and put a $180 billion year-end revenue threshold on three AI-related companies.

Altimeter Capital CEO Brad Gerstner says continued AI infrastructure spending depends on earnings and revenue growth, while wafer production and power availability limit how quickly the industry can expand computing capacity.

On Oct. 21, Gerstner described demand for “super intelligence” as unconstrained but said supply was limited. “Today we have unconstrained demand for super intelligence, and we have limited supply,” he said. He pointed to wafer production and power as constraints and said future demand is uncertain.

In September, Gerstner framed the market’s gains as driven by earnings growth rather than higher valuation multiples. He said market earnings had risen 26% year to date in 2026 even as Nasdaq and S&P multiples declined. He also cited Nvidia at 14 times next year’s fully taxed GAAP earnings.

Gerstner estimated that three AI-related companies he discussed would need to increase their combined annualized revenue from about $100 billion to at least $180 billion by year-end 2026 to sustain the investment case. The threshold is his estimate, not a company forecast.

His argument links the pace of infrastructure growth to two factors: access to wafer production and power, and revenue growth sufficient to support continued spending. The revenue estimate sets a year-end 2026 benchmark for the three companies he discussed.
