> The transition is tied to the filing of the company’s 2026 annual report. Third-quarter revenue reached $3.77 billion.

Comfort Systems USA has named Julie Shaeff to succeed Chief Financial Officer Bill George after its 2026 annual report filing, setting a leadership change alongside a quarter of higher revenue and profit. The company announced the succession at 4:12 p.m. ET (20:12 UTC) Thursday, Oct. 22, after the market closed and as it released third-quarter results.

George notified Comfort Systems on Oct. 16 of his plan to retire. The company said his decision did not stem from a disagreement. It did not set a specific departure date.

The handoff is scheduled after the company files its annual report for the year ending Dec. 31, 2026. Shaeff, a senior vice president and chief accounting officer, will take over at that point. She has held the accounting role since May 2005. George has been CFO since May 2005 and helped found the company in 1997.

CEO Brian E. Lane praised Shaeff’s contribution to the finance team. “Julie has been an integral part of our finance organization for over 25 years,” Lane said. George described his time with the company as a career honor: “It has been the honor of my career to help build and serve Comfort Systems USA.”

Comfort Systems provides heating, ventilation and air conditioning, as well as electrical contracting services, to commercial, industrial and institutional customers. The company has 211 locations in 155 cities.

For the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2026, revenue was $3.77 billion, compared with $2.45 billion in the year-earlier quarter. Net income totaled $489 million, up from $291.6 million. Diluted earnings per share were $13.91, compared with $8.25 a year earlier.

Backlog stood at $17.81 billion at quarter-end, compared with $9.38 billion a year earlier. Lane cited ongoing demand and team performance, saying the company had seen “extraordinary results across every metric this quarter.”

The company’s board compensation committee had not determined whether Shaeff’s compensation would change. Her transition to the CFO role is scheduled to take effect after the 2026 annual report is filed.
