# SEC Commissioner Uyeda Says Agency Dropped Crypto Cases to Protect Credibility

SEC Commissioner Mark Uyeda said the Securities and Exchange Commission has withdrawn multiple crypto enforcement cases inherited from the previous administration to avoid defending legal interpretations the agency plans to reverse.

Uyeda said the SEC is preparing for a major change in its approach to those interpretations. Continuing to argue for positions the commission intends to abandon could damage the agency’s credibility in court, he said.

The commissioner also described the SEC’s innovation exemption for tokenized securities as a pilot program. The initiative may create more opportunities for new market entrants and traditional financial companies, Uyeda said.

The comments point to a potential shift in the SEC’s digital-asset enforcement strategy.
