# 11 Democratic Senators Urge Tim Scott to Hold Prediction Markets Hearing

Eleven Democratic senators are asking Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott to hold a prediction-markets hearing, expanding the panel’s involvement in a sector whose main regulatory jurisdiction lies with the Senate Agriculture Committee and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

The request comes before a Banking Committee roundtable planned for next week on securities prediction markets. Only Republican lawmakers are expected to participate, while a representative from Kalshi is expected to attend.

Prediction markets have primarily fallen under the regulatory jurisdiction of the Senate Agriculture Committee and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. A Banking Committee hearing would expand the committee’s involvement in prediction-market discussions.

The roundtable would be the committee’s next step in examining securities prediction markets.
