Banks’ overall prudential cryptoasset exposure remained broadly unchanged in the second half of 2025, while the composition of Americas exposure shifted sharply as Bitcoin’s share fell and Ether’s rose.

Bitcoin (BTC) represented 44.2% of banks’ cryptoasset exposure in the Americas, down from 75.8%. Ether (ETH) accounted for 38.5%, while Solana (SOL) represented 7.8% and XRP accounted for 5.6%.

The figures cover prudential exposure separately from crypto services conducted for clients. Client-related crypto business in the Americas increased 93% from the previous period to €6.4 billion, while Europe recorded a 25% decline to €1.9 billion.

The figures show that the composition of banks’ cryptoasset exposure changed even as aggregate prudential exposure remained stable.
