A memorandum written by a Trump political adviser targets Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei as a representative figure of artificial intelligence “doomsday” thinking, potentially raising investor concerns as the company prepares for an expected record-setting IPO.

The adviser does not work at the White House. The memorandum portrays effective altruism as a fringe, cult-like movement outside the American mainstream and places Amodei at the foundation of what it describes as an AI “doomsday pipeline.”

The document also identifies Anthropic President Daniela Amodei as part of what it calls the “Anthropic nodes.” The memo’s criticism comes as Trump allies challenge warnings about AI safety during the midterm elections and Anthropic could become a target because of Amodei’s political stance and focus on AI safety.

Anthropic has sought to distance itself from effective altruism. Daniela Amodei said in a 2025 report that she did not identify with the term. Dario Amodei has said he is not a member of the movement and has emphasized artificial intelligence’s potential benefits.

The development could raise investor concerns about Anthropic as the company prepares for a potential IPO. In a prediction market on which artificial-intelligence company would announce or confirm an IPO first, traders previously gave Anthropic a 75% chance and OpenAI a 22% chance, with $278,366 in trading volume. No listing had been confirmed.

TokenPost previously covered the prediction market’s expectations for an Anthropic IPO.
