# Thai Police Arrest Chinese Suspect Over 4.707 Million USDT Theft

Thai police arrested a 30-year-old Chinese national in Pattaya over the alleged theft of about 4.707 million USDT from an OKX user account. Guangdong police alleged that the operation used digital impersonation and SIM-card fraud.

The man was detained Sept. 9. Guangdong police had issued a wanted notice for him in 2025 over allegations that he and at least three accomplices took control of a victim’s OKX account and transferred the assets.

The group allegedly used self-developed AI face-swapping and camera software to impersonate the victim. They then reported the victim’s SIM card as lost and obtained a replacement, allowing them to receive SMS one-time passwords and access the account.

The suspect entered Thailand on a tourist visa in July 2024 and later went into hiding. The arrest followed the allegations that the group used the replacement SIM card to access the account and transfer the assets.

The suspect remains linked to the alleged cross-border account takeover, while the Chinese theft allegations form the basis of the case.
