> French authorities suspect Svetlana A. and Verasity founder Robert H. manipulated the Verasity (VRA) token and may have used proceeds to purchase real estate in Dubai.

French authorities have detained Svetlana A. and placed her under formal investigation over alleged organized fraud, aggravated tax-fraud money laundering and participation in a criminal group tied to the Verasity (VRA) token.

Investigators suspect A. and her husband, Verasity founder Robert H., manipulated VRA’s price to defraud investors. They also suspect the proceeds may have been used to purchase real estate in Dubai.

VRA rose 65-fold over about two and a half months in spring 2021 before declining sharply.

Authorities allege that A. spent more than €50 million in Dubai in 2022, buying about 100 apartments and three villas. A. denies wrongdoing and says the money used for the purchases came from legitimate sources.

The investigation remains focused on the alleged token manipulation, the suspected fraud and the origin of the funds used to acquire the Dubai properties.
