Iran’s foreign minister has briefed Iran’s cabinet on a U.S. proposal, marking a diplomatic development with potential implications for oil prices, broader risk sentiment and crypto markets.

The proposal follows talks Tuesday night in Doha between the Iranian foreign minister’s team and Qatari mediators. Iran received U.S. feedback on a seven-day plan and is scheduled to discuss the proposal in Tehran on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

The plan is intended to establish mutual trust and revive an enhanced version of a memorandum of understanding signed by the United States and Iran in June. The two sides are primarily divided over the order in which the plan’s measures should be implemented, rather than over the measures themselves.

The Tehran discussions are the next scheduled step in evaluating the proposal.
