The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey approved a new auction of Poolin’s Texas mining assets for Oct. 2, reopening a sale process that could produce total consideration of up to $180 million.

A Hut 8-affiliated company will remain the stalking-horse bidder, establishing the baseline for competing offers. The auction covers Poolin’s assets in Texas, where the company operated mining facilities.

Poolin’s U.S. entity filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in July. Its liabilities totaled about $173.1 million before the filing, including approximately $163.7 million in unsecured IOUs issued to wallet users after withdrawals were suspended in 2022.

The court-approved reauction is the next step in determining whether a higher bid will replace the existing baseline offer. The sale is scheduled for Oct. 2.
