> The proposed contract would trade 24 hours a day, five days a week, and become the first regulated U.S. crude oil perpetual futures product if approved.

Kalshi has submitted a proposal to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission for a perpetual futures contract linked to West Texas Intermediate crude oil, seeking to bring a regulated oil product to its U.S. trading platform.

If approved, the contract would be the first crude oil perpetual futures product traded on a regulated U.S. platform. Perpetual futures do not have a fixed expiration date.

Kalshi plans for the product to trade 24 hours a day, five days a week. The CFTC has 45 days to decide whether to approve or reject the proposal.

Kalshi’s commodity markets had reached nearly $400 million in trading volume by early September, providing the backdrop for the company’s expansion beyond event contracts and into energy derivatives.
