> Adiel Miyost was detained after authorities alleged he failed to report cryptocurrency trading activity and related income. The suspected trading involved tens of millions of dollars.

Israeli authorities detained crypto trader Adiel Miyost on suspected tax evasion, money laundering and conspiracy after investigators linked him to trading activity worth tens of millions of dollars.

Miyost, 43, was arrested in northern Israel on Oct. 6, 2026. Investigators allege he traded through several cryptocurrency exchanges without reporting the activity or related income to the Israel Tax Authority.

The suspected tens-of-millions-of-dollars figure describes transaction activity, not confirmed income or unpaid taxes.

Investigators also suspect Miyost maintained undeclared bank accounts abroad and used another person’s account to conceal funds connected to the trading. Searches allegedly found significant foreign-currency cash and a luxury vehicle allegedly registered under another person’s name.

The investigation is being conducted by the Israel Tax Authority’s Haifa Investigations Assessing Officer and the Coastal District Economic Enforcement Unit of Lahav 433, Israel’s national crime-fighting organization. Israel treats income from digital assets, including cryptocurrency, as subject to reporting and taxation.

The Haifa Magistrate’s Court extended Miyost’s detention until Oct. 11, 2026. Judge Michal Davidi said the court found reasonable suspicion and grounds for remand.

Miyost’s attorneys, Uri Goldman and Sheila Dorfman, disputed the allegations and argued that the matter belongs in the civil legal arena. “The police allegations regarding suspected money laundering involving vast sums are far removed from reality,” they said.

The detention order is not a conviction or a final judicial finding. The next specified step in the case is the court-ordered detention deadline on Oct. 11.
