Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA) is renewing its focus on real-world asset tokenization, examining how digital assets connect with settlement infrastructure, real estate markets and legal rights.

The Dubai regulator is emphasizing the integration of tokenized assets with established financial systems as tokenized markets expand. Its focus includes how these assets interact with settlement infrastructure and real estate tokenization.

The approach extends beyond creating digital representations of assets. It also addresses how tokenized assets fit within existing financial and legal frameworks, including the links between virtual assets and legal rights.

VARA oversees virtual-asset activities in Dubai and develops rules for the emirate’s digital-asset markets. Its work on tokenization follows a reserve requirement issued Oct. 6 that requires virtual-asset service providers to maintain reserves covering 100% of customer liabilities, with the assets held at a 1:1 ratio and reconciled daily.

The regulator’s latest focus remains centered on integrating asset tokenization with established financial practices.
