The U.S. International Trade Commission has opened a Section 337 investigation into vertical power delivery systems used in computing equipment, naming 20 respondents across power-component manufacturing and server integration.

Vicor filed a complaint in September 2026 alleging that products imported into or sold in the United States infringe U.S. Patent No. 10,903,734. The company is seeking a limited exclusion order and cease-and-desist orders.

The investigation includes Delta Electronics and Delta Electronics (Americas), Quanta Computer, Quanta Cloud Technology and Hon Hai Precision Industry. Other named respondents include Luxshare Precision Industry and Monolithic Power Systems.

Vertical power delivery systems place voltage-regulation components close to or behind processors. The design is used in high-performance computing equipment, where rising chip power consumption can increase resistance and heat losses in conventional power-delivery layouts.

The case covers vertical power delivery systems, related components and computing systems that contain them. Respondents must submit written responses within 20 days of receiving notice of the investigation.

The commission must set a target completion date within 45 days of opening the case. The proceeding is expected to take about 12 to 16 months and will include an evidentiary hearing before a decision on any potential remedy.
