First Majestic Silver Corp. agreed in principle with Mexico on a framework to resolve a long-running tax dispute, moving the company toward a temporary suspension of related North American Free Trade Agreement arbitration proceedings.

The agreement covers the tax dispute between the silver producer and Mexico. First Majestic said the arbitration proceedings will be temporarily suspended while the framework advances.

The framework remains an in-principle agreement rather than a completed settlement.
