> The petition concerns model-year 2026 Tesla Robotaxi Model Y and Cybercab vehicles and lists an estimated affected population of 1,000.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened defect petition DP26010 on Oct. 9 over allegations that model-year 2026 Tesla Robotaxi Model Y and Cybercab vehicles exceeded school-zone speed limits while automated driving was engaged.

The petition was received Sept. 23 and concerns alleged violations of posted limits in active school zones while Tesla’s Automated Driving System was operating. NHTSA lists an estimated affected population of 1,000 vehicles, but that figure is an agency estimate rather than a verified count of active robotaxis.

The petition records four incidents: one ODI report and three other reports identified as social-media reports. It lists zero crashes, fires, injury incidents and fatality incidents. Three video links were submitted as supporting evidence.

The available record does not identify the alleged locations, speeds, dates or operating conditions. It also does not establish that any Tesla vehicle exceeded a school-zone speed limit or that a safety defect exists.

The petition was opened to evaluate the allegations and determine whether it should be granted or denied.

The petition follows an earlier NHTSA matter involving a Tesla Model Y and a school-zone speeding allegation. [That earlier school-zone speeding complaint](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/regulation/30313>) identified the vehicle as a Model Y but did not identify it as a robotaxi or Cybercab.

The agency’s next step is to evaluate the allegations before deciding whether to grant or deny the petition.
