> The monthly advance was the largest since March 2022, with gasoline prices up 20.3%.

U.S. producer prices rose 1.3% in September on a seasonally adjusted basis and 6.3% over 12 months, putting inflation data in focus ahead of the Federal Reserve’s next rate decision.

The 1.3% figure compares with August, while the 6.3% rate measures the change from September 2025. The monthly gain was the largest since March 2022, and the annual rate reached its highest level since December 2022. Final-demand goods prices rose 2.6%, with energy prices up 10.8% and accounting for more than 80% of the increase in goods.

Gasoline prices jumped 20.3% from August, accounting for half of the increase in goods prices. Services prices rose 0.8%, while transportation and warehousing services climbed 3.4%.

Producer prices track what domestic sellers receive for goods and services, while consumer-price measures track what buyers pay. The Fed raised its target range by 25 basis points on Sept. 16, to 3.75%–4%. Its next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 27-28.
