> A tug off the United Arab Emirates was struck Sunday, while two tankers faced attacks near Yemen and Saudi Arabia. Brent crude settled Friday at $109.86 a barrel.

Iranian security official Mohsen Rezaei said Sunday that Iran’s armed forces had prepared a response to any new attack by the United States or Israel, as commercial ships came under fire near the Arabian Peninsula.

Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said the planned response would be more damaging than two prior conflicts he referred to as the 12-day and 40-day wars.

A tug off the United Arab Emirates was struck Sunday by two unidentified projectiles. On Saturday, a small skiff with seven people aboard approached a liquefied natural gas tanker southwest of Yemen and fired twice; the tanker’s security team responded with two warning shots. A separate tanker northeast of Saudi Arabia was hit Friday by a rocket-propelled grenade fired from a small boat.

Saudi Arabia intercepted several missiles over the Red Sea Friday, including one headed toward the Yanbu oil export terminal. Brent crude settled Friday at $109.86 per barrel, up 3.7%; U.S. West Texas Intermediate closed 3.5% higher at $101.41.
