Citron Research founder Andrew Left is asking a court to set aside his securities-fraud conviction, as his lawyers contend a separate probe kept the defense from testing a prosecution witness’s credibility.

The investigation involved insider trading and a witness for the prosecution. Left’s attorneys say the defense had not been told about it and argue the inquiry could have provided grounds to question the witness’s credibility.
