Hyperliquid Labs CEO Jeff Yan said U.S. access to the platform depends on regulators understanding on-chain technology and assessing whether it aligns with the CFTC’s core principles.

In comments on Thursday, Oct. 15, Yan said Americans who use a VPN to access Hyperliquid violate its terms of service. He described compliant access as requiring regulators to understand how on-chain technology works and evaluate it against the agency’s principles.

Yan pointed to a public verification check: anyone can compare total user balances with the USDC held at a particular address. He said that kind of transparency could help regulators recognize the technology’s benefits.

The comments follow Yan’s earlier case for financial firms to use [Hyperliquid’s shared blockchain infrastructure while keeping their customer relationships](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/technology/33861>).
