> Starting Oct. 21, Google will accept licenses from four UAE authorities for crypto exchange and software wallet ads, but only three for CFD and rolling spot forex ads.

Google will revise its licensing criteria on Oct. 21 for ads targeting the United Arab Emirates that promote crypto exchanges, software wallets, contracts for difference and rolling spot forex, expanding crypto advertisers’ licensing options.

Crypto exchange and software wallet advertisers can qualify with an appropriate license from the Capital Market Authority (CMA), Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) or Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA). They must also obtain Google certification and comply with applicable UAE law.

Advertisers promoting contracts for difference (CFDs) or rolling spot forex must hold a license from the CMA, DFSA or FSRA. VARA is not on that list. Google certification and compliance with UAE law are also required for these ads.

In both groups, the licensing criteria sit alongside Google certification and UAE-law requirements.

The requirements apply to accounts worldwide when they advertise the covered products to UAE audiences. Google will give at least seven days’ warning before suspending an account for a violation of these policies. The revised regulator lists take effect Oct. 21.
