# All 100 Economists in Survey Expect Fed Rate Hike in December 2026

All 100 economists in an October survey expect the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates in December 2026, while 94 expect the federal funds rate to end the year at 4.00% to 4.25%.

Support for that year-end range has grown since September, when 29 of 76 economists expected it. The latest survey measures expectations for the rate at the end of 2026; the 94-person figure does not describe views on the Fed’s October decision.

An October pause remains possible before the expected December increase. Both decisions are still ahead.
