> Nvidia spent $4.69 million in the first nine months of 2026. Export controls affected its access to China’s data center market.

Nvidia spent $2.15 million on federal lobbying in the third quarter, a quarterly high as U.S. export controls affected its access to China’s data center chip market.

The July-to-September expense brought Nvidia’s total for the first nine months of 2026 to $4.69 million. Its latest quarterly spending exceeded the $1.25 million recorded from April through June by $900,000. It was also $200,000 above the $1.95 million recorded in the third quarter of 2025.

In the second quarter, Nvidia lobbied on AI, export controls, semiconductor trade and the fiscal 2027 defense authorization bill. The quarterly expense figure does not show how much the company spent on any one issue.

Nvidia reported $89 billion of data center revenue for the fiscal quarter ended July 26. Its outlook for the following quarter included no data center compute revenue from China. Those fiscal reporting periods differ from the July-to-September calendar quarter used for the lobbying total.

Nvidia received U.S. licenses for limited shipments of H200 chips to specific Chinese customers. It was unable to sell all the products covered by those licenses, and Chinese government restrictions also limited H200 sales.

The lobbying figures show a rise in Nvidia’s federal spending as it faced trade and export policy issues. They do not show how much of the third-quarter expense went toward those issues or whether the spending changed any policy.
