> USDA expects to release payment rates for major commodity crops in November. No timetable has been announced for the separate $5,000 pledge.

President Donald J. Trump announced $8 billion in aid for U.S. farmers Oct. 19, while a separate pledge to pay $5,000 to every adult U.S. citizen depends on Republicans retaining both chambers after the midterms.

Trump’s pledge is separate from the [farm aid plan](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/regulation/36676>). No payment timetable has been announced for the broader pledge.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will calculate payments for the 2026 crop year using farmers’ reported planted acreage, production-cost estimates, and crop yield and price forecasts. The department expects to release rates for major commodity crops in November, after the midterm elections. Individual payment rates and an application date have not been announced.

The one-time package is intended to cover part of producers’ estimated losses. Earlier in 2026, more than 560,000 farmers received a separate $12 billion in one-time aid. USDA plans to announce payment methods for other eligible commodities later.

Net farm income is projected to decline 2.6% in nominal terms in 2026 from 2025. After adjusting for inflation, the projected drop is 5.5%, while income would remain above its 2006-25 average in inflation-adjusted dollars.
