The federal government's $8 billion farm-aid package is not expected to reach farmers before the Nov. 3 midterms, with payments expected to begin in January.

President Donald J. Trump announced the [one-time farm-aid plan](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/regulation/36676>) Oct. 19 to address projected losses in the 2026 crop year. The administration also presented the package as relief from rising fuel and other production costs.

The national average on-highway diesel price was $6.276 per gallon Oct. 19, up from $6.179 Oct. 12. That road-fuel measure includes taxes and does not directly show the prices farmers pay for diesel.
