> x256.hl said a friend repaid a months-old loan from Huobi, now HTX. The UK designated HUOBI GLOBAL S.A.; OFSI separately says HTX is covered because of Huobi’s ownership.

A Hyperliquid user identified as x256.hl alleged that a friend’s repayment from Huobi, now HTX, preceded a high-risk flag on the user’s wallet, putting attention on how exchange exposure can affect screening.

In a post dated Oct. 25, x256.hl said they had lent a friend a few thousand dollars months earlier and did not know the repayment came from Huobi. The user said the wallet was flagged high risk afterward.

The UK designated HUOBI GLOBAL S.A. under its Russia sanctions regime on May 26, 2026. The notice lists HTX and HTX Exchange as name variations for the designated entity and includes an asset freeze and other restrictions. The Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) said in a May 29, 2026, FAQ that it considers HTX subject to UK financial sanctions because of Huobi’s ownership.

An account posting as HTX_Molly said Huobi Global S.A. and the HTX exchange were separate legal entities. “Same brand doesn’t mean same legal entity, and it certainly doesn’t mean the same asset systems,” the account wrote. That position differs from OFSI’s view that HTX is covered through Huobi’s ownership.

Wallet screening evaluates an address’s exposure to illicit or high-risk entities. Platforms may use those assessments when deciding whether to process, block or escalate activity.
