Binance has applied for a crypto-asset service provider license in Brazil as it restricts some products and prepares to remove 22 assets for Brazilian users ahead of an Oct. 30 authorization deadline.

The exchange filed its application with the Central Bank of Brazil on Oct. 23 through BBrasil, its local entity. Existing crypto service providers must apply by Oct. 30 to continue operating under a transitional arrangement. Filing does not mean the application has been approved.

Binance began restricting crypto lending and margin trading for Brazilian users on Oct. 27. It also plans to delist 22 crypto assets in the country, though the tokens and removal date were not specified.

Thiago Sarandy, Binance’s head in Brazil, said the company supports a regulated market adapted to virtual assets. He said Binance hopes continued discussions with the central bank will allow some paused products to return.

The Oct. 30 application deadline is the next milestone for crypto service providers seeking to operate under the transition arrangement.
