> Utah sued Kalshi and two Susquehanna-linked trading firms in October before the CFTC filed its case.

The CFTC has sued Utah, asking a court to stop the state from investigating or taking enforcement action against prediction markets regulated at the federal level. Utah is the 10th state sued by the commission in its dispute over authority over the sector.

Utah filed its own lawsuit in October against Kalshi and two trading firms linked to Susquehanna. The CFTC's new case seeks to limit state oversight of federally regulated prediction-market activity, putting the commission and Utah on opposing sides of the jurisdiction question.

At the center of the dispute is whether Utah can investigate or enforce against businesses in a market area the CFTC treats as federally regulated. The case adds Utah to a federal campaign now spanning 10 state lawsuits over prediction-market authority.
