> President Zelensky said Ukraine held off on refinery attacks for the energy truce’s first 72 hours and targeted other locations.

Russian refineries processed 25% more crude in the second half of October than at the start of the month. Ukraine had paused attacks on the facilities during the first 72 hours of an energy truce.

President Zelensky said Tuesday, Oct. 27, that Ukraine held off on strikes against Russian refineries during the truce’s opening 72 hours and focused on other targets. “We won’t touch the oil refineries,” he said.

Russian authorities identified strikes on refineries in Ryazan and Surgut in mid-October as some of the last attacks that month, with no further strikes after Oct. 16.

Repeated Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian refineries began in mid-March and contributed to domestic fuel shortages. Russia banned gasoline, jet fuel and diesel exports and began importing oil products by sea.
