South Korea’s Financial Services Commission (FSC), the country’s financial regulator, will meet with five major bank chiefs Nov. 5 to review financial-sector security after recent cyberattacks, with a focus on AI-related threats.

The meeting is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET Wednesday, Nov. 4 (1 a.m. UTC Thursday, Nov. 5). FSC Chairman Lee Eog-weon will chair it. Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) Governor Lee Chan-jin and Financial Security Institute (FSI) President Park Sang-won are also expected to attend.

The five participating banks are KB Kookmin Bank, Shinhan Bank, Hana Bank, Woori Bank and NH NongHyup Bank. The agenda includes checking whether security upgrades introduced after recent cyberattacks are being carried out and assessing financial-sector risks tied to artificial intelligence.

The current terms of all five bank presidents run through Dec. 31. Succession procedures have started at Woori, Hana and Shinhan. Security management and incident response may influence decisions about whether bank presidents are reappointed.
