> Twelve companies, including Nvidia and Costco, joined the list. Issuers have 30 days after receiving written notice to object to unaffiliated third-party tokens on the venue.

OKXICE’s Oct. 30 public notice listed objections from 50 companies to its planned tokenized-stock venue, including 43 of the 62 names in its original lineup. The count offers a snapshot of how many issuers had objected by that date as the venue’s proposal advanced.

The notice added 12 companies: Nvidia, Costco, Nike, Micron Technology, CrowdStrike, Corning, IREN, USA Rare Earth, Bloom Energy, Palo Alto Networks, Reddit and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. The 43 objectors from the original list represent about 69% of its 62 selections. Seven of the 50 objectors were outside that group, while 19 original selections had no objection disclosed. The absence of a disclosed objection does not establish support for the plan or confirm that a company’s shares will be listed.

OKXICE is a joint venture between crypto exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange. Its planned blockchain-based venue would let users trade digital versions of U.S. stocks around the clock using stablecoins.

Under the SEC’s exemption, an issuer has 30 calendar days after receiving written notice to object when an unaffiliated third party plans to tokenize its stock for trading on the venue that sent the notice. A timely objection blocks those tokens from trading on the venue that sent the notice. Each response period starts when the issuer receives notice, so the date of a public filing does not set one deadline for every company. Venues have up to five business days to update public notices to disclose a timely objection.

For companies that received written notice Oct. 4, the response period falls around Tuesday, Nov. 3. Issuers that received notice later have different deadlines. The process concerns third-party tokenized trading on the venue that contacted the issuer, rather than every possible tokenization of the stock.

At an Oct. 30 press conference, OKXICE co-chairman Andrew Cuomo described the rollout as being at an early stage. “But we are at the very beginning of the rollout of fundamentally different market structure,” he said.
